Geniculocalcarine Tract
Neuroanatomical Drawing
The aim of this illustration is to supplement and improve on currently available materials, to elucidate a neuroanatomical concept or structure with the goal of improving learning. In this case, the structure of interest is the geniculocalcarine tract, or visual pathway. Typically the visual pathway is illustrated in a more schematic style, usually from lateral orientation. However, this does not show the unique texture of these tracts or the way they curve in 3D space around the other structures of the brain. Using 3D models, data from current research, as well as dissection images this illustration was created to highlight this important structure.
